At Christie Griffith we work with industry experts from both the IT and Telecoms sectors. We believe that there will be a wave of consolidation as a means to resolve various structural issues within the IT and Telecoms industries. Importantly, we expect to see a number of cross-sector mergers. The IT industry has been characterised over the last 7 years by a cycle of boom-bust-stagnation, due in part to the huge spend on IT in readiness for the millennium bug and the unfortunate association of the sector, in the eyes of investors, with the dot.com bubble.
Similarly the Telecoms industry has been decimated in the aftermath of the boom and bust of the last few years. The surviving companies are well positioned to grow but as yet there appears to be little sign that companies are positioning themselves to take advantage of the integration opportunities. Voice and data convergence is taking longer than expected by industry experts but it will happen.
At Christie Griffith we are convinced that convergence between the IT and Telecoms sectors is set to begin and will be driven by the following:
voice over IP
rationalisation by customers
cost savings achievable
improvements in technology/quality
changing market conditions
Whether you are an IT or Telecoms company we can help you with strategic planning and we can identify possible merger or acquisition targets as well as raise the funding for the deal.
